Are Rejigg Leads Brokered or Unbrokered?

A cream study model of two shallow sorting trays side by side with a short stack of blank cards between them, with one card lying in the right-hand tray in green.

Short answer: both, and each business tells you which before you reach out. Most businesses on Rejigg came through our own outreach to owners who had not hired anyone to sell. A smaller share, about 4% as of October 2026, are represented by a broker, and those carry a brokered label. Treat the first group like owners you reached yourself. Treat the second like any represented deal.

Knowing which kind of deal you are looking at tells you how to read the profile, how to run the first call, and how much of the process you will be driving.

Two kinds of deal flow

Represented deal flow comes from business brokers and M&A advisors. Someone has been hired to sell the business. You usually get a prepared package, financials an advisor has worked through, an asking price the owner has discussed with a professional, and a process with deadlines. Other buyers are often looking at the same time.

Owner-direct deal flow comes from your own calls, letters, conference conversations and network. Nobody is running a sale. The owner decides whether to talk, what to share and how fast to move. The numbers are raw, the price is untested, and you set the pace together.

Rejigg carries both. We are a deal platform, which means we bring owners, brokers and buyers together and give everyone the tools to get a deal done. We are not the owner's broker, and we do not take the broker's place on a represented deal. Rejigg is paid by the buyer at closing, on every deal.

How to tell which one you have

Every business profile on Rejigg shows whether the owner is represented. The label is set before you request a conversation, and under our buyer terms it stays fixed for that conversation.

Unbrokered. The owner has no paid third party selling the business. Most of these owners came to Rejigg because our team called or emailed them, or because they signed up on their own. Nobody has prepared a package, and the owner is your counterpart from the first call.

Brokered. A broker or advisor has been engaged by the owner and will be paid on the sale. Often this is an owner our team called who had already signed with a broker. The broker stays the seller-side contact and runs the process the way they normally would. Brokered deals on Rejigg carry a reduced success fee, half the standard rate, as section 5.2 of the buyer terms spells out. Our broker page explains how represented deals come onto Rejigg.

What Rejigg does on an unbrokered deal

  • Finds the owner. Our team contacts about 12,000 businesses a month to ask owners whether they would consider a sale. The ones who say yes build a profile on Rejigg.
  • Helps the owner get started. Every owner gets a free valuation estimate based on their own financials, and help turning their answers and documents into a profile.
  • Introduces you. When you request a conversation, we share who you are, why you are interested, and how you would fund a deal, so the owner can make an informed choice.
  • Keeps the deal organized. NDAs, scheduling, messaging, the data room, LOI templates and diligence checklists live in one place, and our team can answer process questions along the way.

Here is what Rejigg does not do on an unbrokered deal. We do not set the owner's price, write or vouch for their numbers, choose their buyer, run an auction, or negotiate for either side.

What the owner decides

On an unbrokered deal, the owner runs their own sale. That is a big part of why owners who would never hire a broker are willing to talk to buyers here.

  • The asking price. The valuation estimate gives the owner a range, but the number is theirs. Some list near the range, some well above it, and some list without a price at all. As of October 2026, the median asking price on Rejigg is about 5.0x earnings, and deals that closed cleared at a median of about 3.4x.
  • The description of the business. The profile and the numbers in it are the owner's. Our team reviews profiles before they go live, but confirming the numbers is your diligence, as it would be with any owner you met directly.
  • Who they talk to. We give the owner context on you. Whether to accept the conversation is up to them.
  • The pace and the outcome. The owner decides how quickly to move, what to share, and which offer, if any, to accept.

How to work an unbrokered Rejigg lead

Run it the way you would run a good owner-direct conversation.

  • Treat the profile as a starting point, not a CIM (Confidential Information Memorandum). It tells you enough to decide whether to call. The real picture comes from the owner.
  • Earn the owner's trust first. Lead with who you are, why this business, and how you would pay for it. Our guide to approaching an owner covers what to say.
  • Bring the market to the conversation. If the asking price is out of line, walk the owner through how buyers and lenders value a business like theirs. Many have never had anyone do that.
  • Drive the process. End every call with a next step. After a good second conversation, ask for three years of P&Ls, balance sheets and tax returns, plus customer and supplier lists.
  • Do your own diligence. Plan for a quality of earnings review and an M&A attorney, and encourage the owner to get their own advisors too.
  • Keep the offer simple. In our LOI data as of October 2026, the typical LOI pays about 75% of the price in cash at close, and 58% include seller financing. A structure the owner can understand on a phone call gets signed faster.

How to work a brokered Rejigg lead

Work it the way you work any represented deal. The broker is your point of contact, the package they prepared is your starting point, and their timeline is the one that counts. Rejigg still handles the NDA, the introduction and the deal tools, and your success fee is the reduced brokered rate. Nothing about the broker's agreement with their client changes because the deal came through Rejigg.

Where Rejigg fits in your sourcing mix

Put unbrokered Rejigg conversations in the same pipeline stages as your own outreach, and brokered ones with your other represented deals. Rejigg brings a steady flow of owners who have said yes to a conversation, plus represented deals brokers have chosen to share here. Browse off-market businesses, or create a free buyer account and set alerts for your buy box so new matches of both kinds come to you.

Frequently asked questions

Are Rejigg leads brokered or unbrokered?

Both. Most businesses on Rejigg are unbrokered: the owner has no paid third party selling the business, and usually came through Rejigg's own outreach. A small share, about 4% as of October 2026, are brokered and labeled as such before you request a conversation. The label decides how you should work the deal.

Does Rejigg represent the owner?

No. On an unbrokered deal, the owner runs their own sale and Rejigg supplies the introduction and the deal tools. On a brokered deal, the owner's broker keeps that role. Owners pay nothing to be on Rejigg. Rejigg is paid by the buyer when a deal closes.

Is the valuation estimate the owner's asking price?

No. The valuation estimate is a free reference point Rejigg gives every owner, based on their own financials. The owner sets their own asking price, and some set none at all. Treat the estimate as context for the conversation, not as a number anyone has agreed to.

Are the financials on a Rejigg profile verified?

Rejigg's team reviews each profile before it goes live, but the figures belong to the owner. Verifying them is part of your diligence, as it would be with any owner you met directly. Plan on three years of P&Ls, balance sheets and tax returns, and a quality of earnings review before close.

Does Rejigg negotiate on my behalf?

No. On an unbrokered Rejigg deal you negotiate directly with the owner. On a brokered deal you negotiate with the owner's broker. Rejigg's team can answer questions about process and structure, and can introduce you to attorneys, lenders and quality of earnings providers.
