The Business

Efficiency Enterprises keeps other companies' trucks on the road. It maintains, rents, and leases trucks, trailers, and forklifts for distributors and other fleet operators, with six locations from Astoria in Queens down through Baltimore and Delaware to Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers. About fifty technicians service a fleet of roughly twelve hundred units. Its roots are in beverage distribution, where state liquor laws keep delivery trucks inside one state, so the trucks run dense city routes year after year and double as rolling billboards the company sells space on. A customer that signs on tends to stay for decades.

Two families started the company in 1978 as a single shop in Astoria, servicing one liquor distributor's fleet, and built it over nearly fifty years into a multi-state operation run day to day by a longtime president. When they decided to sell, what they wanted was clear: a buyer with the scale to keep serving the company's largest customers without a hiccup, and a home that would keep the technicians. They put the business on Rejigg in June 2025.

How the Deal Happened

The profile drew 17 buyer conversations over the next year. Rejigg screened out two before they reached the company. Eleven buyers took a first call, among them several private equity groups and independent sponsors, and a few went deep. The president ran the process himself, with Rejigg handling the introductions, the screening, and the follow-up.

Ryder opened its conversation on Rejigg on August 25, 2025, and held a first call in early September. Its team worked through the business case that fall. In January 2026, after a snowstorm pushed the meeting back, Ryder's chief executive sat down with the company's leadership in Miami. Terms were agreed in June 2026. Diligence ran through the summer and early fall, the deal closed on November 1, 2026, and Ryder announced it the next day, fourteen months after its first message.

Deal Highlights

One Shop in Astoria

Founded in 1978 servicing a single liquor distributor's trucks. Grew to six locations in four states.

Rolling Billboards

Liquor law keeps distributor trucks in-state, so they run the same city routes for years and carry paid advertising on the side.

A Buyer at Scale

Ryder runs about 240,000 vehicles and nearly 800 shops. The technicians and the customers stay inside that network.

Fourteen Months

Ryder opened the conversation on Rejigg in August 2025, agreed terms in June 2026, and closed November 1.

The Buyer

The buyer is Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), the Miami-based fleet and logistics company that runs about 240,000 commercial vehicles and nearly 800 maintenance locations across North America. Efficiency's six shops fill in Ryder's East Coast network in Florida, New York, Maryland, and Delaware, and its technicians and customer relationships come with it. Ryder said the acquisition adds capacity in high-demand logistics markets. The company's president is working with Ryder through the transition, and the business is being folded into Ryder's Fleet Management Solutions network over the rest of 2026.
