Wavve
A Creator Tool Finds the Right Owner

The Business
Wavve turns podcasts and video content into social clips, transcriptions, and marketing assets for creators. Founded in 2018, it built a paying base of thousands of podcasters and a six-figure email audience, the kind of loyal creator community most media startups spend years chasing.
The seller was not a burned-out founder but a disciplined holding company: Calm Capital, built by two lifelong friends around vertical B2B software. Wavve, a prosumer tool, was the portfolio outlier, and rather than let it drift they ran a patient, candid process to find an owner for whom the product would be core rather than a side bet. That patience ran nearly a year and a dozen buyer conversations.
Transaction Timeline
How the Deal Happened
Patrick Hill connected with Calm Capital on Rejigg in February 2025, and the fit was obvious quickly: LOI conversations were underway within two weeks of the first call. The two discovered they lived within driving distance in North Carolina and met in person before signing. The deal closed in May 2025.

The Buyer
Patrick Hill is the founder and CEO of Disctopia, a Charlotte-based podcast hosting and streaming platform serving the same creators Wavve was built for. The acquisition logic was clean: Wavve's audience and tools plug directly into a platform that already speaks to podcasters every day.
