TEG Consulting
A 30-Year Search Firm's Patient New Owner

The Business
TEG Consulting has placed VP, director, and senior executive talent for nearly 30 years, mostly for private equity-backed companies in tech and healthcare across the New York-to-Washington corridor. The business runs on repeat relationships, with more than 90 percent of engagements coming from returning clients, and no single customer dominating the book.
Founder Rick DeRose built the firm in the 1990s, deliberately hiring accomplished women from corporate America as his founding team, and for the past decade has run it from a distance while his longtime operator managed day-to-day. He sold to simplify his life and to hand the firm the growth energy he no longer wanted to fund himself.
Transaction Timeline
How the Deal Happened
TEG drew three serious buyers who pursued it in parallel for months after connecting in October 2025. The winning LOI came in February 2026 from Shinemon Akiyama, and the deal closed in April 2026, about six months end to end, with the firm's operating leadership staying in place.
Deal Highlights

Three Bidders

The Buyer
Shinemon Akiyama acquired TEG through Akiyama Capital, a New York search fund backed by Japanese investors with a 10-to-20 year hold horizon and an explicit commitment to preserving the firm's culture rather than rolling it up. For a relationship business, a buyer measuring in decades was the fit that mattered.
